Stewart Friesen returning to United States following horrific crash in Canada

“Stewart continues to be in serious but stable condition here at a hospital in Quebec,” Jessica wrote Tuesday. “He will be transferred to a hospital in New York tomorrow, where multiple surgeries will take place in the coming days.”

Stewart Friesen is in serious but stable condition following his wreck during Monday’s Super DIRTcar Series race at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec. He suffered a broken pelvis and a fractured right leg, with both injuries requiring surgery.

As news of the Stewart Friesen wreck spread around the racing world — and video of the crash permeated the social media sphere — the outpouring of love and support came in. It has clearly meant a lot to the Friesens.

“We want to thank everyone here at the hospital in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, for the outstanding care, and several members of the racing community who have helped facilitate getting Stewart closer to home,” Jessica wrote. “The outpouring of support from all of our racing family has been overwhelming in the best way.

“Thank you for all of your outreach and encouragement as we continue to work through the next steps in Stewart’s recovery.”
