Tonight, Stewart Friesen’s wife Jessica has released another update on her husband following his surgeries in New York. On Monday, the NASCAR driver was involved in a violent wreck while participating in a dirt race. He has since been hospitalized after suffering a broken leg and fractured pelvis.
Jessica Friesen has been providing updates on social media for race fans. Her husband is one of the driver-owners in the sport that fans tend to rally around.
It appears that this is a good update. Stewart Friesen is taking his next steps following surgery last night.
“Stewart had a successful multi-hour surgery last night to address both his pelvis and compound leg fracture, which went very well,” Jessica wrote. “After the surgery, he got some great rest overnight and we feel like we are moving forward.
“We are scheduled to meet with the physical therapist soon and continue to make a plan for Stewart’s road to recovery. We need to thank everyone at the hospital here in New York for their efforts yesterday, and everyone cheering us on and providing so much comfort to us. The racing community is truly a family, and we have felt that all week.”

The wreck earlier this week was shocking to race fans and the NASCAR community. It is easy to forget that injuries are a reality in motorsports. We see drivers flip and wreck, and cars catch fire going 190 MPH at Daytona or Talladega, and just assume everything is fine. That isn’t always the case. Even short tracks can be dangerous.
Earlier today, Jessica Friesen asked NASCAR fans to go to Onezeetees.com to purchase a shirt or other collectible in order to support her husband. The family will not do a GoFundMe but hopes fans and others chip in to support the family during this time.
“In respecting Stewart’s wishes, we would love for you to visit Onezeetees.com and purchase your favorite racing shirt or collectible,” Jessica said. “I know that Stewart would want you to have something in return for supporting our family in this time.”
Jessica added, “We will not be setting up a GoFundMe or any other sort of charity account. If you see one, please know that unless it comes from us, it is not official and not supporting Stewart’s care. Thanks again for the well wishes and prayers. They are the biggest blessing and encouragement we could have as we continue to move forward.”
Hopefully, it is a quick recovery for Stewart Friesen. Earlier this season, he won at Michigan to break a year-long winless streak.
