Two-tire call allows Tyler Reddick to charge to fourth-place finish at Texas

Tyler Reddick didn't win Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas, but it wasn't for a lack of trying.

After the caution came out with 11 laps to go, Reddick decided to come down pit road for two right-side tires, a contrary strategy to leaders Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott.

While most of the top 10 stayed out for the four-lap dash to the finish, Reddick put his two new tires to work on the final restart. The Cup Series points leader immediately went to the top of the racetrack and surged to fourth by the time the checkered flag flew.

Reddick maintained a 109-point lead over runner-up Denny Hamlin and now has a series-leading seven top fives and eight top 10s through the first 11 races of 2026.

Tyler Reddick explains his race at Texas

"We were hoping, as it played out on the restart behind the 9, that we'd have a little something left to be able to close the gap," Reddick told Fox Sports. "We were every close with the 9 and the 11. All in all, a solid day. It was nice to go for it there on the two tires. Had a couple passes that took a little longer than they needed to."

Reddick has won five of the first 11 races of 2026 and is off to the best start of his young Cup Series career.
