Tyler Reddick, with no right front fender, took the checkered flag in Sunday’s Autotrader 400 at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta. Reddick sustained significant damage to his No. 45 Toyota in the Lap 224 wreck.

With a beat up race car, Reddick found his way back to the front to go back-to-back to open the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season. Reddick joins Matt Kenseth (2009), Jeff Gordon (1997), David Pearson (1976), Bob Welborn (1959), and Marvin Panch (1957) as drivers to win the first two events of a Cup campaign, according to Joseph Srigley of TobyChristie.com.

Reddick went winless in 2025. The breaks, of which you need to win, never fell his way. They did last Sunday in the Daytona 500 and again this Sunday at Atlanta.

“This place over the years, man, it just puts on some amazing racing and handling matters here, but I don’t know. I guess determination outweighs handling,” Reddick told Regan Smith of FOX Sports.

Tyler Reddick overcomes beat up race car to win at Atlanta

Reddick led one lap at Daytona; he led a race-high 53 from the pole at Atlanta but after losing his right front fender, looked to be finished as a contender to win. But there he was, starting behind 23XI Racing teammate Bubba Wallace on the bottom for the second overtime restart. Once Wallace shot up the top down the backstretch to block Carson Hocevar, an opening was created for Reddick.

Wallace went to the back and Reddick went to the lead. He held off Chase Briscoe and Ross Chastain to win. With that beat up race car, Reddick admitted he didn’t know if he’d have enough to hang in there during an intense double overtime period.

“Man, I really didn’t know. We were back there in 30th after we got collected with the 11 [Denny Hamlin], and it was definitely running loose, and we were able to make an adjustment on it,” Reddick said. “I don’t know, it just kept stacking up in the middle and top lanes, and I just found a way to get back to the top five.

“Yeah, I tried to stay committed to somebody, and I don’t know, I didn’t really have a choice. I had to find out if it was gonna go out in clear air like that.”

Reddick is first in the points standings heading into next Sunday’s race at Circuit of The Americas (COTA). In second is his teammate in Wallace. After an up-and-down 2025, 23XI is currently the team to beat in 2026.
