Tyler Reddick pressed on contract status after NASCAR stripped 23XI charter

This weekend, 23XI Racing is fielding all three teams as open cars. That includes Tyler Reddick and his No. 45 team. This is a result of the ongoing NASCAR lawsuit that 23XI and Front Row Motorsports initiated last year.

With charter status being revoked this week, 23XI and FRM are up in the air. There are certain contract provisions that are potentially violated by not having a charter as far as drivers, sponsors, and other partners are concerned.

At Dover, Tyler Reddick spoke to the media. He was asked by Dan Gelston of the Associated Press about racing as an open car and if he had given any thought to his contract, given the circumstances. Reddick stayed mum on the topic.

“Yeah, everything related to litigation, charters, I don’t have a comment for at this time. Thank you, though.” Reddick was pressed further on the matter, and he doubled down. “I don’t have a comment at this time. Thank you.”

23XI Racing and Front Row are hoping to receive a new preliminary injunction this week. That would grant them charter status once again throughout this season and through the end of the trial. However, the U.S. Court of Appeals could get involved once again.

For now, the teams do not have charter status. None of the drivers were in danger of missing the race this weekend, as there were fewer than 41 cars entered into the event. Reddick is fourth overall in points this season and only 53 points behind leader William Byron.

Denny Hamlin asked about Tyler Reddick’s status

Of course, as the team owner of 23XI Racing, Denny Hamlin was also asked about Tyler Reddick and his status with the team. Reddick is a driver who would be scooped up by any team that could manage to make a tempting offer.

The good news for 23XI Racing is that there aren’t too many organizations that can give Reddick better equipment and data. 23XI shares with Joe Gibbs Racing, meaning they more or less have top-of-the-line information. Not to mention the new Air Speed building that houses the team now.

When asked about the Tyler Reddick situation, Hamlin kept things hush-hush at Dover this weekend. Not a lot from him on the subject. “I don’t have any direct comment to that,” Hamlin said, via Jeff Gluck of The Athletic.

Tyler Reddick is at 23XI Racing…for now. Could that change before the 2026 season?
