The lap 71 restart in Sunday's Daytona 500 featured an accordion effect that led to a big crash.
The No. 22 of Joey Logano failed to keep pace with the rest of the field on a restart, causing a stack-up that involved a chunk of cars. Logano told his team that his car "petered out" when he shifted to fourth gear, leading to the outside lane being forced to check up.

The crash is the second so far in the 67th running of the Daytona 500. Zane Smith and Josh Berry were involved in a lap 63 wreck that brought Stage 1 to an end under the yellow flag. Logano won the stage, which could be his saving grace on a day that might not yield that many points.
The caution awarded Berry the free pass, enabling him to get back on the lead lap.
