Watch: Denny Hamlin's car blows engine, catches fire in NASCAR race at Texas

Denny Hamlin saw his race come to a fiery end on Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway.

Late in Stage 1 of the Wurth 400, Hamlin, whose No. 11 Toyota was down on power, spun in turn 1 as flames shot out of his car. As oil poured out of his exhaust pipes, fire sprouted around the bottom of Hamlin's car for a few seconds before it came to a stop.

Hamlin got out of his car unscathed, though he will finish the race 38th out of 38 cars. Hamlin is the first car out of Sunday's race. He was checked and released from the infield care center.

The caution flag brought Stage 1 of the Wurth 400 to an end under yellow, with Talladega winner Austin Cindric taking the stage win. Polesitter Carson Hocevar finished second in the stage.

Hamlin has two wins so far in the 2025 season — Martinsville and Darlington — and is fourth in the Cup Series points standings as they run in Sunday's race.
