Will Joey Logano pull page out of Kevin Harvick book and become a broadcaster after retirement?
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

NASCAR driver becoming broadcasters soon after their retirement is a common occurrence, just like in most sports. The most recent example of such a move is 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick . He joined the Fox NASCAR booth ahead of the 2024 season after retiring at the end of the 2023 season and is having a solid start to his new career.

He transition was made easy due to the experience he had calling Xfinity Serie races in the past with the same broadcaster. Now two times Cup Series champion Joey Logano, who has consistently featured in Fox’s lower division race coverages over the years, has opened up about him doing something similar to Kevin Harvik. He pointed out though his retirement is multiple years into the future, he has thought about taking up broadcasting after stopping racing.

I don’t know when that time is yet, to be honest with you. I know it’s more than five years out. But I don’t know, I don’t know after that. We’ll just kind of have to wait and see. How life is going, what’s going on. But it definitely seems like something that I would want to do. I don’t think I’m just going to, when I’m done driving, I’m not just going to leave the sport. I don’t agree with that.

Logano told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Logano has made it clear he doesn’t won’t to leave the sport he loved behind like some of the racing legends did after retirement and wants to stay involved like Harvick. The Ford driver has really good ability to call the races and being a two times champion, has insights only a few could offer. This makes him good future brodcasting option for streaming partners of the sport.

Joey Logano will race as long as he is competitive

Logano, while talking about how Kevin Harvick is enjoying his life now as a broadcaster now pointed out that it’s a really good role to be. But at the moment he is focused on racing as long as he could, before exploring the next phase of his career.

He’s [Harvick] there, happy as can be, joking around, having a grand old time. I’m like, ‘Eh.’ You’ve kind of got that anger in your stomach at that moment, because of the race. It’s funny. So, some day, I’d like to do that, but for now, I still enjoy driving the car, and I’ll do that as long as I can be competitive. Logano said.

Right now, Logano doesn’t have time to think about his future as the start of 2024 hasn’t been kind to him. He hasn’t secured a good finish despite having solid starts. Logano has to sort the issues and secure a win soon to redeem himself from poor 2023 season.
