Everyone was planning for Bruce Brown's exit from the Toronto Raptors upon his arrival to the team as a part of the Pascal Siakam trade. The former Indiana Pacers guard was not expected to be in Toronto for long.
However, more than a year has gone by and Brown remains with the team. With his $23.0 million contract set to expire in the offseason, the former NBA champion is in a position where if the Raptors do not trade him now, they may stand to lose him for nothing.
There should be several contenders who could use the services of someone like Brown. However, his considerable contract number could make finding a trade somewhat difficult for the Raptors.
Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors make a ton of sense as a trade destination for Brown. The contracts are easy to match and the team is desperate to acquire help around Stephen Curry.
While the Warriors may be thinking big, with Jake Fischer reporting their interest in several All-Stars, there is a strong chance the team will need to settle for less if/when their pursuits fall short.
The Raptors could expect to yield a couple of expiring contracts in this scenario and a handful of second-round picks.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have a couple of days left to unload their disgruntled star, Jimmy Butler. If the Phoenix Suns are the eventual recipient of Butler's services, a couple of teams would likely be needed to step in to help facilitate the deal.
The Raptors could likely be one of those teams. Brown's large salary will actually be helpful in that scenario and the Heat have been rumored to desire 'win-now' players in any Butler deal. Toronto could find themselves rewarded well for their help.
Milwaukee Bucks
A potential deal with the Milwaukee Bucks could be messy due to their financial restrictions. However, the Bucks are in serious need of supporting talent to help them push for anything of significance this season.
A trade with the Bucks would likely mean that the Raptors need to eat Khris Middleton's hefty contract for the remaining two years on the deal. There could be a strong reward for doing so.
