3 Trade Options the Brooklyn Nets Could Pursue During 2025-26 NBA Season

It has been a rough past two seasons for the Brooklyn Nets as they continue to go through a rebuild.

For the Nets, they will enter the new season looking to make a run at a Play-In spot, though they may still be a few pieces away from being a playoff team despite their core of Michael Porter Jr., Cam Thomas and Nic Claxton.

Brooklyn did make some key additions to their roster this offseason as they selected Egor Demin, Nolan Traore, Drake Powell, Ben Saraf and Danny Wolf in the 2025 draft and acquired Porter Jr. in a trade with the Denver Nuggets for Cameron Johnson.

Despite these moves, the Nets may be heading towards another long season as they continue to go through their rebuild and they may look to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline.

If that is the case, these three players could be potential trade targets for them.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Nets have been linked to Giannis Antetokounmpo over the past few seasons and if he ends up demanding a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks this season, Brooklyn will likely be a team involved in trade discussions.

Of course, the Nets have been in search of adding a superstar player to their roster as they try to end their rebuild and Giannis would give them just that.

Despite this, there are many other teams around the league that will likely also show interest in the star forward if he demands a trade which could lead to Brooklyn having to outbid other teams for him.

Lauri Markkanen

If Giannis does not demand a trade this season, the Nets could look at Lauri Markkanen as a potential fit to be the star player they have been looking for.

Of course, the Utah Jazz have a high asking price for their star forward, though the Nets do have enough assets to make a trade for him, which would give them a star player they have been in search of.

While that may be the case, Markkanen should continue to draw interest from many teams around the NBA if the Jazz decide to move him this season.

Anfernee Simons

While Anfernee Simons is not a star player yet, he has shown a ton of potential throughout his career and with the Boston Celtics looking to move him again after acquiring him earlier this summer, Brooklyn could be a potential landing spot.

For Simons, he would give the Nets another great scorer alongside Porter Jr. and Thomas in their starting lineup.

Even better for Brooklyn, they could be able to land Simons at a cheap price, or at least much cheaper than them trying to land another big name this season.

While Brooklyn could target these players, they may elect to ride it out with their current core as they remain stuck in a rebuild.
