With LeBron James officially a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, the team’s 2026–2027 schedule release on Thursday put the full potential of this powerhouse roster into perspective. We had already received glimpses of several of Philadelphia’s 34 nationally televised games, but seeing the slate as a whole shows the massive spotlight this team is set to command with the additions of James and 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown.

This certainly helps the team in their battle to win the war of attrition heading into the postseason next spring, as veterans like LeBron James and Joel Embiid can get optimal rest without dealing with compounding fatigue after both missed significant time last season.

And while they face several playoff teams from last season across the East and the West to start the year, they also face 15 games against teams that didn’t make the playoffs—including the Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, and Chicago Bulls. Some of the toughest matchups are set to occur at the turn of the new year, with games against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, and San Antonio Spurs occurring on the back half of the season.

This layout gives the 76ers ample time to figure out their rotations and discover how several dynamic players can fit on a team with the highest aspiration: bringing the first championship to Philly since Dr. J and Moses Malone in 1983.

As he’s slimmed down and worked tirelessly to fortify his health heading into the fall, Embiid will once again emerge as an All-NBA performer and one of the league’s premier players, raising the baseline for Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown will have a dominant season reminiscent of the one he had in Boston last year without Jayson Tatum. The individual scoring numbers among the 76ers’ starting five may dip slightly from their previous career averages, but the fit will be seamless, with LeBron James serving as the ultimate quarterback of what should be a high-powered offense. And if the 76ers offense reaches its full potential, a Nick Nurse Coach Of The Year win isn’t off the board, barring another more impressive story emerging in the league.

The 76ers could plausibly see at least three of their players in All-NBA and major awards conversations, with James making another All-Star team and emerging as the oldest player ever named to an All-NBA team.
