The Philadelphia 76ers have had a particularly brutal season which has been defined by injuries. Additionally, Paul George's move to Philly has been anything but ideal.
The Sixers are now among the teams officially in the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes ahead of the 2025 NBA draft. It remains to be seen just how much 76ers fans will see of star guard Tyrese Maxey this season.
Maxey has not played since March 3 as the playmaker continues to deal with a finger injury. The guard was once again ruled out for the Sixers matchup against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
Maxey was listed as out by the team with a right finger sprain, and it appears the guard still has some time remaining in his recovery. Sixers head coach Nick Nurse revealed that the hope is that Maxey can return "at some point" this season.
"Sixers coach Nick Nurse said Tyrese Maxey is working out and wearing a splint on his finger with the hope of returning at some point during the final games of the season. Nurse said it is a pain-tolerance issue at this point," The Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey detailed on X on Wednesday.
It is not all bad news for Maxey as the guard was spotted shooting before the team's game against the Wizards on Wednesday. Philadelphia's six-game losing streak has the 76ers tied for the fifth-worst record in the NBA, potentially good news for fans rooting for a chance to land Flagg.
