76ers coach Doc Rivers: 'If this is the best we are, we aren't good enough'

The Philadelphia 76ers have looked like the best team in the Eastern Conference so far this season, but head coach Doc Rivers made it clear that he believes the team is nowhere near where it needs to be if Philadelphia wants to make a deep postseason run.

"I can't tell you our record," Rivers told reporters. "I'm not even going to guess. I'm just focused on us getting better. We're not where we need to be or where we want to be. If this is the best we are, we aren't good enough."

For Rivers, this type of attitude makes sense. His more laid-back approach backfired spectacularly last season when the Los Angeles Clippers collapsed in epic fashion, getting eliminated from the postseason by the Denver Nuggets after holding a 3-1 series lead. After the season, Rivers was fired, and now he seems determined to keep his team focused on postseason success.

For the 15-6 76ers, this approach is probably beneficial given their disappointing postseason performances over the last several seasons. While it may be tempting for the team to celebrate its success so far this season, it's important to remember that regular-season dominance doesn't mean anything if it fails to translate to the playoffs.
