The Philadelphia 76ers are still concerned over Joel Embiid's issues with his knees, according to NBA insider Brett Siegel.

Last season, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid had, arguably, the worst season of his career. The big man was limited to just 19 games, dealing with his nagging knee issues throughout the 2024-25 campaign. Due to the injury that Embiid had to deal with, the 76ers did not contend for the NBA championship like they had hoped.

On Sunday. NBA insider Brett Siegel entertained a question from a fan on X. The fan asked Siegel about an update on 76ers stars Embiid and Paul George. Aside from the Cameroonian star, Philly was also dealing with a rehabbing George.

George opted for a knee surgery during the offseason. He had to undergo the operation after sustaining it during an on-court workout last July, per Shams Charania of ESPN.

The 76ers Aren't Confident With Joel Embiid

First, Siegel revealed that George will miss the start of training camp, and he will likely opt out of the preseason games. That was followed by an update that the 76ers still aren't confident in Embiid's knee issues.

"Only updates are that George is out for the start of training camp and may not play in the preseason. Too early to tell there," Siegel said. "As for Embiid, there is genuine concern about his knee health. Of course word from Philly gets downplayed, but around the league, word is bad."

Embiid was shut down on the final day of February to pay more attention to his injuries. The thinking was that with more time to allow his body to recover, he would be able to have a full recovery before the start of the 2025-26 season.

Unfortunately for the 76ers, they aren't sure that Embiid has sufficiently rehabbed his knee, according to Siegel's update.

It's been two seasons since Embiid was crowned the best player in the league. He, the team, and the supporters have not benefited from the years that followed his MVP victory.
