The Philadelphia 76ers honored all-time great guard Allen Iverson on turning 50 Saturday.

“Happy 50th to the Answer! !” the team wrote on X, along with a celebratory post.

They followed this with a montage of 76ers legends and current players wishing him a happy birthday.

“Happy birthday to Allen Iverson,” rookie guard Jared McCain stated. “A Philly legend of course thank you for what you’ve done for the city of Philly and the game of basketball. An inspiration for so many people out there.”

“My brother [Allen Iverson], happy birthday man, welcome to the 50 club,” said former 76ers guard Eric Snow, who played with Iverson from 1998-2004. “I hope you have a wonderful day and you know what you mean to me. Love you for life.”

“[Allen Iverson] what’s up brother happy 50th birthday,” former player turned broadcaster Kenny Smith shared. “The greatest of the great and your favorite player's favorite player.”

The love for Iverson comes as he was once a perennial All-Star caliber player for Philadelphia from 1996 to 2007. During that stretch, he helped the 76ers win the 2001 Eastern Conference finals against the Milwaukee Bucks 4-3.

Unfortunately, Iverson could not lead them past Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal and the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals, who defeated them 4-1. Philadelphia did win Game 1 in overtime, preventing the Lakers from going undefeated throughout the playoffs.

During that season, Iverson was named the NBA regular-season MVP for averaging 31.1 points and 4.6 assists per game.

Following five more seasons in Philadelphia, Iverson was traded to the Denver Nuggets in December 2006 to pair up alongside forward Carmelo Anthony in return for Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two first-round picks in the 2007 NBA draft. Following his stint in Denver, Iverson returned to Philadelphia in 2009-10 for 25 games before making three appearances with the Memphis Grizzlies.

In October 2013, he retired from professional basketball after playing for Besiktas in the Turkish basketball league. Iverson finished his 17-year professional career as an 11-time NBA All-Star and a four-time scoring champion in 1998-99, 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2004-05.

Iverson later had his signature No. 3 jersey retired by the 76ers in 2014, before being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.
