As the Philadelphia 76ers get the offseason underway, the team has a lot of big decisions to make. After a failed 2024-25 season, the 76ers front office will be looking to change some things up across the roster.
Many have speculated that the 76ers could look to trade away star forward Paul George this offseason. The signing of George has looked pretty bad since he joined the team, and Philadelphia may want out of the contract.
But another option for the 76ers could be to get themselves out of the Joel Embiid era. While Embiid is a great player, his consistent injury concerns have hampered the overall ceiling of this 76ers team.
In a new trade idea from Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World, the 76ers do, in fact, move on from Embiid. Phialdelphia sends the former MVP to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a massive haul.
Here is how the deal would look:
Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: Joel Embiid
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Isaiah Hartenstein, Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Joe, 2026 first-round pick (UTA), 2028 first-round pick (DAL), 2029 first-round pick, 2031 first-round pick
The 76ers would receive loads of draft capital here, as well as a solid big man in Hartenstein. Wiggins and Joe could help anchor the 76ers forward as well, giving them a chance to fully reset things.
If the Thunder added Embiid, they could go on a dynasty-like run. Even if his injury concerns persisted, the Thunder wouldn't be trading away any of the core three players that they have.
Embiid could join a cast of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren, taking some pressure off him. This move could serve both sides well, and could be something for the teams to look into.
