The Philadelphia 76ers have signed a quarter of free agents, forward Emoni Bates, point guard Kennedy Chandler, wing Malcolm Hill and forward Jaylen Martin, per a team press statement.
Given the precarious nature of Philadelphia’s salary cap situation, these are likely to be training camp contracts.
The 6-foot-10 Bates, still just 21, was selected with the No. 49 pick out of Eastern Michigan in 2023 by Cleveland. He played sparingly with the Cavaliers proper across his first two pro seasons as a two-way signing. In 25 contests, he boasts averages of 3.1 PPG and 0.8 RPG.
The 6-foot Chandler played for the Grizzlies 2022-23, suiting up for 36 contests. Chandler has been plying his trade in the G League ever since, suiting up for the Memphis Hustle, Long Island Nets and Raptors 905.
Hill, a 6-foot-6 swingman, played in just 24 games for Atlanta and Chicago from 2021-23. He also was signed to the Pelicans on a 10-day deal in 2024, although he never played in an actual game. A journeyman since going unselected out of Illinois in 2017, Hill has been playing for NBAGL affiliates more than he’s seen NBA action. Most recently, he played for New Orlean’s G League club, the Birmingham Squadron.
Martin split his rookie season in 2024-25 between the Nets and Wizards on two-way deals. In 16 games last year, he averaged 4.9 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 1.1 APG and 0.6 SPG.
Izan Almansa is officially on an Exhibit 10 agreement with Philadelphia already, while Igor Milicic was reportedly inked to one, too.
If an Exhibit 10 signing is cut by his NBA squad before the season and latches on with that team’s G League affiliate for at least 60 days, he’ll become eligible for a bonus worth up to $85,300.
