After Game 4’s 144-114 loss to the New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe, following the final game of his rookie season, made a guarantee for the 2026-27 season. The rookie guard showed massive promise in his first year. 76ers’ Paul George revealed he spoke to Edgecombe after Philadelphia’s playoff exit on Sunday.
Edgecombe is eager for next season, he said, per The Philly Voice’s Adam Aaronson.
“Next year, I’m going to come back better, stronger, faster, more athletic,” VJ Edgecombe said. “Whatever I got to do, I’m going to go.”
Edgecombe also addressed goals he’s already set for the upcoming season during his postgame media availability, per PHLY Sports’ Derek Bodner.
“It was tricky. I was guarded differently. But I’m gonna take some time, look back at it after a couple weeks or so and go in the gym and just get better. “Coming into next year, a team won’t ever leave me open [again].”
Edgecombe finished with eight points, seven assists, and six rebounds in Game 4.
