The Philadelphia 76ers are waiving forward Alex Reese to make room for Dominick Barlow on a two-way contract, according to reports from HoopsHype and ESPN.
Reese, 26, appeared in 14 games for Philadelphia last season after signing a two-year, two-way contract in February. He averaged 5.3 points and 3.3 rebounds across 15.3 minutes per game and also spent significant time in the G League, where he impressed with 16.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while shooting 39.3% from beyond the arc for the Delaware Blue Coats and Rip City Remix.
Currently part of the 76ers’ Summer League roster, Reese has recently dealt with Achilles soreness. His release opens the door for Barlow, a 22-year-old forward who brings 96 games of NBA experience, including time with the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks.
Barlow averaged 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 10.7 minutes per game over 35 appearances for Atlanta last season, including four starts. He was promoted to a standard contract in March before the Hawks declined his $2.2 million team option in June, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Reese, an Alabama alum, went undrafted in 2021 and spent a year away from basketball before resurfacing in Luxembourg. He returned stateside for the 2023–24 campaign and earned a brief stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder last fall, though he was waived in late October after a single appearance.
Barlow joins a two-way group that already includes Hunter Sallis and Jabari Walker.
