Bronny James experienced his first start of the season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bronny James appeared in the starting lineup for the first time during the LA Lakers’ dominant 119-95 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Statistically, his performance wasn’t remarkable, failing to score while missing both three-point attempts in just 10 minutes on the field.
However, his game highlight came when he helped Lakers rookie Adou Thiero on his first NBA basket.

After the game, Thiero expressed gratitude for Bronny’s assist, finishing with four points in his first five NBA minutes.
“I really saw Bronny steal the ball and he was running alongside the left side of the court.
“So I was like, shoot, let me just run as hard as I can, see what happens,” Thiero explained.
“And he was able to find me, help me get my first buckets. So it’s a great feeling. Happy it happened,” he added.
Thiero, selected 36th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, made his debut due to injuries sidelining Rui Hachimura and Marcus Smart.
Thiero’s debut gained additional attention due to drama involving the game ball. Lakers players wanted to preserve the ball commemorating Thiero’s first points, but referees and arena staff initially resisted.
Giannis Antetokounmpo intervened, helping secure the ball and delivering it to Luka Doncic, who praised the gesture.
“It took some fighting for it. It took some time. The ref wouldn’t give us the ball, so Giannis took it to give us. Respect to him,” Doncic stated.
Lakers fans hope Thiero’s debut represents the beginning of meaningful development rather than just a memorable moment.
The franchise needs the rookie to evolve into an important rotation player as their championship window also demands contributions from the whole roster.
