A’ja Wilson is currently at the top of the world. While she hinted at big future plans with Bam Adebayo, the recent 83-point night has been quite the highlight for the Miami Heat star. Surprisingly, speaking about her idol in the NBA, the WNBA star picked up a name whose record her partner has recently broken- Kobe Bryant.

Following Adebayo’s historic night, the 28-year-old was targeted by fans. Accused of playing for the record, the situation is currently pretty sensitive. Interestingly, in a recent statement, the Las Vegas Aces star hailed Bryant as her NBA GOAT.

“You’re talking about someone that is the goat of basketball… Kobe Bryant said I had a nice fadeaway jumper. That moment was huge,” said Wilson.

Most NBA enthusiasts usually limit the GOAT debate to Michael Jordan and LeBron James. However, the 29-year-old has won the WNBA championship thrice. She has also earned the Finals MVP award twice. Thus, such a statement coming from a strong personality like Wilson will hold significant weight.

Additionally, as Adebayo surpassed Bryant, the couple now has the highest single-game score in the NBA and the WNBA. Complementing the Miami Heat star’s 83 is Wilson’s 53, which she dropped back in 2024.

Meanwhile, hailing her partner’s achievements, the WNBA star cannot help but praise his ‘countless hours’ of hard work.

She pointed out how the star player works really hard day in and day out to better his game. Thus, Wilson believed they deserved the achievement.

“I see the countless hours that he puts in, I see the early morning workouts, the questioning, the self-doubt, I see all that. And I’m grateful that God is really just really special for him. God doesn’t play about Bam,” said Wilson.
