The brother of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo made a decision on where he'll play next season, and it's not in the United States.
Alex Antetokounmpo announced Monday via Instagram that he'll play for UCAM Murcia in Spain, foregoing the NBA G-League or attending college.
Antetokounmpo's deal with Murcia is for three years and includes an NBA out clause for every summer, according to Eurohoops.net.
The youngest Antetokounmpo brother graduated from Dominican High School in Wisconsin, where he showcased his immense talent and even racked up offers from various NCAA schools before deciding to turn pro in Europe.
Antetokounmpo's decision stems from his previous comments in May about facing grown men in Spain versus college talent in the NCAA. He ultimately felt that playing in Europe was the best decision for his development.
"I have decided to play in Europe," he said last month, according to Devdiscourse.com. "I want to become a pro as soon as possible. I was born and raised in Europe, I know European basketball, and the best thing for me would be to sign a contract with a European club. I will have to train and compete against grown men, I will experience strong competition and pressure, and I will evolve on every level."
Thanasis Antetokounmpo also played overseas in Europe before finding a solid gig in the NBA with the Bucks. Kostas Antetokounmpo, on the other hand, opted to play college basketball at the University of Dayton before entering the NBA.
The Antetokounmpo brothers all took different paths to the NBA and ultimately chose what they thought would be the best for their careers. It'll certainly be interesting to see where the youngest ends up within the next five years.
