Washington Wizards center Alex Sarr has been ruled out for at least two weeks following a right hamstring strain.
Shams Charania of ESPN reported the development on Wednesday, adding that Sarr won't be able to play in the NBA Castrol Rising Stars game on Friday due to the injury.
"Washington Wizards center Alex Sarr has sustained a right hamstring strain and will miss approximately two weeks, sources tell ESPN," Charania wrote. "Sarr, one of three players averaging at least 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks per game this season, is now out for Friday's Rising Stars game."
Sarr, who is averaging 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.0 blocks per game this 2025-26 season, missed Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a hamstring issue.
It's unknown when exactly Sarr picked up the injury. He missed two other games this February as well, but those were because of calf and ankle issues.
With Sarr out and the Rising Stars game scheduled for Friday, the NBA quickly decided on his replacement.
Interestingly, the NBA didn't look far from the Wizards to select Sarr's replacement. The league named his teammate, Bub Carrington, to play for Team T-Mac (led by Tracy McGrady) in the All-Star weekend event.
Carrington is now set to join Atlanta Hawks forward Zaccharie Risacher, who was also recently announced as a Rising Stars replacement for Team T-Mac amid the injury of Oklahoma City Thunder guard Ajay Mitchell.
Team T-Mac also features Tre Johnson, Kon Knueppel, Cam Spencer, Jaylon Tyson and Kel’el Ware.
There are four teams in the Rising Stars game, playing a mini-tournament. Team 1 plays Team 2, while Team 3 faces Team 4. The winners of both semifinals games move on to the championship.
Team Vince (under Vince Carter) is composed of players such as Matas Buzelis, Cedric Coward, Egor Demin, VJ Edgecombe, Kyshawn George, Derik Queen and Jaylen Wells.
On the other hand, Team Melo (coached by Carmelo Anthony) features Dylan Harper, Stephon Castle, Collin Murray-Boyles, Reed Sheppard, Jeremiah Fears and Donovan Clingan. Cooper Flagg was also supposed to be part of the team, but a foot injury forced the NBA to put in Ace Bailey.
Austin Rivers, for his part, will be leading a group of G League standouts under Team Austin: Sean East II, Ron Harper Jr., David Jones Garcia, Yang Hansen, Alijah Martin, Tristen Newton and Yanic Konan Niederhauser.
