Giannis Antetokounmpo rookie card sells for record $1.812 million

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo joined some pretty elite company recently after being named NBA MVP for the second consecutive season. On top of that, he also was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. As you can imagine, Antetokounmpo memorabilia has skyrocketed in price, and one person bought his rookie card for an astronomical amount.

According to Darren Rovell of The Action Network, the Antetokounmpo Logoman card sold for a record $1.812 million.

The entity that purchased the Antetokounmpo card also recently purchased a LeBron James rookie card for $1.8 million.

The ultra-rare Antetokounmpo card is signed and features a piece of a game-worn jersey from his rookie season. It was initially pulled out of a pack of Panini America's 2013-14 high-end "National Treasures" line.

The 1-of-1 card was graded a MINT 9 by Beckett Grading Service, making it even more desirable for collectors. That's not all, though. The signature on the card received a perfect 10 grading from Beckett.

Basketball cards have become extremely valuable over the years, and if Antetokounmpo continues playing like he has, then the one-of-a-kind rookie card certainly will fetch more than what it was recently purchased for.
