Horace Grant says Michael Jordan lied in 'The Last Dance' documentary

Former Chicago Bulls forward Horace Grant doesn't remember certain events detailed in the ESPN docuseries "The Last Dance" the same way six-time champion and living legend Michael Jordan does.

As ESPN's Nick Friedell wrote, Grant appeared on the ESPN Chicago "Kap & Company Show" on Tuesday to refute claims made by Jordan that the forward was responsible for leaking sensitive team information mentioned in Sam Smith's "The Jordan Rules" book published in November 1991, per The Ringer's Bryan Curtis.

"Lie, lie, lie. ... If MJ had a grudge with me, let's settle this like men," Grant said during the interview. "Let's talk about it. Or we can settle it another way. But yet and still, he goes out and puts this lie out that I was the source behind [the book]. Sam and I have always been great friends. We're still great friends. But the sanctity of that locker room, I would never put anything personal out there. The mere fact that Sam Smith was an investigative reporter. That he had to have two sources, two, to write a book, I guess. Why would MJ just point me out?"

Grant also claimed that "The Last Dance" was more an entertainment piece than a true documentary, and that 90 percent of the 10-episode series was "B.S. in terms of the realness of it."

Grant went on to confirm a story Smith told San Francisco radio station KNBR about a time when Jordan told flight attendants to not serve Grant food following a poor performance. Grant added that he stood up to Jordan on that occasion and other times when the two were teammates in Chicago.

He also echoed criticisms made by Ken Burns regarding the authenticity of a documentary about Jordan and the Bulls that included Jump 23, Jordan's production company, partnering in its completion.

Grant was part of the Bulls squads that won three consecutive championships from 1991 through 1993.
