Will the Knicks make some noise in the 2020 NBA Draft? Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Knicks reportedly interested in trading up in NBA draft

Despite being one of the worst teams in the NBA last season, the lottery gods did not smile upon the New York Knicks, giving the team the eighth pick in a draft that isn't exactly loaded with talent beyond the top three or four players. But rather than hope they can grab someone at their current spot, the Knicks are reportedly interested in moving up in the draft to grab someone they can build around.

"Plenty of people around the NBA believe the Knicks want to make a bigger splash in this draft than the eighth pick might allow," The Athletic's Zach Harper wrote.

Which player might count as a "bigger splash"? The guy most consistently linked to the Knicks is LaMelo Ball, though several other teams are thought to covet the point guard, including the Golden State Warriors, who hold the second pick in the draft.

If the Knicks are desperate enough to try and grab Ball by trading up, the Warriors seem like the team most likely to be open to trading down for assets. The only problem is the Knicks don't really have much to offer in terms of assets, as their roster is among the worst in the league.

However, they could offer a plethora of future picks to entice the Warriors or any other teams, as any trade partner might reasonably assume any Knicks' pick will be valuable for the foreseeable future since the team has not made the playoffs in the last seven season.

The NBA Draft is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
