LeBron James' former teammate says Lakers have 'zero' chance to win the championship

It appears the Los Angeles Lakers' push to climb up the Western Conference standings to secure a decent playoff spot hasn't convinced one of LeBron James' former teammates. Channing Fyre, who spent much of his four seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers playing alongside James, recently joined FanDuel TV's 'Run It Back' and spoke with Michelle Beadle about his thoughts on the Lakers this season.

Beadle mentioned that Frye previously said the Lakers had "zero chance" to win the championship and proceeded to ask if he still feels that same way. Frye's response was about as candid as you'll find.

"No, that's a zero, that's a zero, that is a zero," Frye said laughing. "... I mean, put it this way, if we stop right now, who are they playing in the play-in? The Warriors? That's a 50-50 chance right there. And then you've gotta go against a young Minnesota, or Dallas, who's cooking right now? Stop it.

"Bron, listen, that's my guy, I love you. If I saw him, I'd tell him the same thing. Hey, you had a great year, big guy, that's crazy, you're 39. I sweat going up the stairs, I need a breath, and you're out here averaging 25." Frye said.

It's tough to argue with the points made by Frye, especially when it comes to the potential matchups. The Western Conference has a brutal outlook based on how talented virtually every team in the playoff picture is, and the Lakers will face an uphill battle if they want to make noise in the postseason for a second consecutive season.
