Stephen Curry's shocking contribution to a rival franchise

Stephen Curry has professed his love for popcorn on many occasions. The sharpshooter's pregame and postgame routines involve a visit to the popcorn stand at every arena he visits. Oftentimes, the quality of the salty snack determines his production on the court.

That would explain why Curry credited Golden 1 Center's popcorn stand after dropping 41 points against the Kings last October.

That's not all — in 2019, Curry ranked every NBA arena's popcorn quality from best to worst using four specific parameters: freshness, saltiness, butteriness and crunch.

Guess which arena's popcorn he ranked the worst? Crpyto.com Arena — the longtime home of the Lakers and Clippers.

However, as the Clippers move into Intuit Dome next season, they plan to improve the quality of their popcorn, and who better to seek advice from than Curry?

A report from the Los Angeles Times has revealed that 310 Provisions, the group behind the Clippers' new home, reached out to Curry for his opinion on the venue's popcorn.

"The butter popcorn was selected by the ultimate expert in popcorn: Steph Curry," CEO of Halo Sports and Entertainment Gillian Zucker said. "Steph Curry has actually ranked every single facility for their popcorn and we're like, 'We want our popcorn to be the best,' so maybe he'd come and he'd try it. And we asked him and he said he would."

"So he went through about, I don't know, 10 different options and I'm thinking 'how much does this guy really know about popcorn?' but he got in and he starts talking about popcorn and explaining. [He said]: 'It should have a crunch, it has to be a butterfly shape and it should melt in your mouth and that's what determines good popcorn.'"

What the Clippers don't realize is that improving their popcorn quality could backfire against them. Why would they feed a visiting Curry a more delicious variant of his favorite snack?

Back in 2019, Curry gave Brooklyn's Barclays Center the nod for the best popcorn in the league. It just so happens Curry always shines in away games in Brooklyn with three 35-plus outings since 2017.
