For a change, the Los Angeles Clippers ended up on the winning side after the game.
Yes, the struggling Los Angeles Clippers had no trouble against the LA Lakers as they walked away with a dominant 103-88 win over their rivals.
The win certainly took the attention off the Clippers’ shocking release of veteran point guard Chris Paul in the middle of his retirement tour.
The distraction didn’t last long, however, as Lakers superstar LeBron James was asked about his thoughts on the Clippers waiving CP3.
James and Paul’s friendship goes beyond the hardwood as the two are members of the famous ‘Banana Boat’ crew along with Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony.
While Anthony had a major reaction to CP3’s release, James didn’t have the same reaction when asked if he had talked to his friend.
“No, I haven’t talked to him,” James said. “It’s not for me to comment on, to be honest. It’s none of my business.”
Considering the Lakers were handed a brutal beating by the Clippers, it’s obvious James wasn’t in a good mood.
Either way, James refrained from adding more fuel to Paul and the Clippers’ complicated relationship.
The major incident during the Lakers vs. Clippers clash was Luka Doncic suffering a leg contusion injury and not returning to the hardwood after halftime.
With Doncic out for some time and Austin Reaves already injured, the Lakers need a point guard to go to battle with James.
Well, with Paul still a free agent, the Lakers could sign him for the remainder of the season. Of course, CP3 is no longer in his prime, but he can still be a floor general if given adequate minutes.
Paul averaged 2.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game in 16 appearances for the Clippers this season.
