Analyst proposes blockbuster midseason trade between Bucks and Warriors

The 2025-26 NBA season kicked off Tuesday, meaning it is never too early for analysts to begin their fantasy trade scenarios.

That includes Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd, who proposed what would be a blockbuster midseason trade between the Milwaukee Bucks and Golden State Warriors.

Blockbuster trade proposal sees Warriors acquire Bucks superstar to compete for title

The proposal saw Milwaukee receive Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga and four first-round picks in exchange for its superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Cowherd cited Golden State's old age and needing a younger player to compete in the Western Conference.

"Steve Kerr is too smart to think that 37-year-old Steph, 35-year-old Draymond, 36-year-old Jimmy Butler and now 39-year-old Al Horford can compete in the West. They can't, they can't," Cowherd said.

A major storyline of the NBA offseason was centered around Antetokounmpo's potential trade request. A disappointing postseason exit, combined with the departure of Damian Lillard, was setting up a path for the "Greek Freak" to request a trade. Antetokounmpo ultimately decided to stay in Milwaukee, but a trade request could certainly reappear at some point during the season if the Bucks begin to struggle.

It feels extremely unlikely that Golden State would move off Butler and Kuminga for what could be just half a season of Curry and Antetokounmpo. We did see, though, with the Luka Doncic trade that absolutely nothing should be considered off the table when it comes to a trade in the NBA.
