Luka Doncic had an eventful evening Thursday, having been selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the third-overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft before being shipped off to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Trae Young and a future first round pick.
Amid all the action, interestingly, was how Doncic’s mother, Mirjam Poterbin, attracted quite a bit of attention herself, including awkwardly from Golden State Warriors star Andre Iguodala.
Poterbin joined Doncic at the festivities at Barclays Center, posting a selfie on Instagram and writing how proud she was of her son.
Shortly after Poterbin was featured during ESPN’s coverage of the draft, Iguodala took to Twitter to make an awkward remark about her.
Moms decent!!!

Huh. That’s … something.
It’s no surprise that Poterbin is extremely proud of her son and frequently posts about him on Instagram, including a recent photograph of the two after Doncic led Real Madrid to the EuroLeague title.
“I have a great relationship with Luka,” Poterbin told Euro Hoops, via Heavy.com. “Even though he is 18 years old, he is making his own decisions, by himself. I’m just here whenever he needs me. We talk sometimes but in the end he makes his own decisions, and I have to say that, until today, he has made all the right decisions. Our relationship is very good because he has his own life, I have my own life, but we help each other as much as we can.”
Doncic also took to social media on Thursday night, expressing how excited he is about embarking upon his NBA career with the Mavericks.

It will be really something when Doncic crosses paths with Iguodala, that’s for sure.
