There are hard-earned skills, and then there are those running in the bloodline. And with his recent feat, Julian Reese proved how he blends both.

It hasn’t been long since the younger Reese signed a 2-way contract with the Washington Wizards. While the Wizards came up with a 133-110 win over the Utah Jazz, Real App took Reese’s feat to X on March 26.

“Julian Reese is tied as the fastest player to reach 60 career rebounds since Shaq in 1992”, the caption read. While the photo highlighted Reese’s stats, wearing the Wizards’ jersey.

Why in the bloodline? Because this is the brother of the 2X defending rebounding champion, WNBA star Angel Reese. Against the Jazz, Julian racked up a double-double of 26 points and 17 rebounds, while averaging 12 points and 10.7 rebounds in 6 games.

Now he has joined the elite company of the NBA icons, Shaq and Tim Duncan, who were the only players in the past 40 years to record a 20-rebound game within their first 5 career appearances. Shocking stat, but what is Juju saying?

Julian Reese Calls It a “Blessing”

The former Maryland Terrapins’ cornerstone is putting up a strong game on the hardwood again; it’s just the jersey that has changed. And to the former three-time All-Big Ten, being able to show his hard work is a blessing.

“It’s just a blessing”, said Juju to Glenn Clark Radio. “I just try to be level-headed… to trust the grind… I feel like in this league, it’s more about consistency. If I’m able to do that, I’m going to be able to stick in this league.”

Julian brings a very simple mindset to his games and carries on with it. In an early March game against the Jazz, he hit his first double-double with 18 points and 20 rebounds. The consistency he talked about was pretty visible in his recent game, too.

Moving forward, Juju will “keep playing and getting better at basketball” while doing whatever it takes to win.

Do you think he’ll be able to maintain his consistency in the next games?
