Antetokounmpo brothers to compete in 2023 NBA All-Star Skills Challenge
USA TODAY Sports

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and his brothers, Alex and Thanasis, will have a busy weekend in Salt Lake City. Aside from coaching in the 2023 NBA Celebrity All-Star Game, the trio will also be gunning for the Skills Challenge title on Saturday against Team Jazz and Team Rooks.

Gunning for redemption

The Antetokounmpos will relish the time they'll be spending together this weekend. Though Giannis and Thanasis are teammates on the Bucks, their younger sibling Alex plays for the Bucks' G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, which means they don’t get to see each other as often as they would like.

The Antetokounmpo brothers will have their work cut out for them as they compete against Team Jazz, which has Jordan Clarkson, Collin Sexton, and Walker Kessler, and Team Rooks, which will be composed of the Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic, Jaden Ivey of the Detroit Pistons, and Jabari Smith Jr. of the Houston Rockets.

A new champion will be crowned this year as the defending champions, Team Cavs, made up of Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and Jarrett Allen, are not competing this year. Team Cavs pulled off the thrilling win last year, thanks to a halfcourt shot that Mobley made in 5.5 seconds to defeat Team Rooks.

Going to be fun

The Skills Challenge is always a fun part of the All-Star festivities as it pits the NBA’s top young players against each other in a series of contests that tests their dribbling, passing, and shooting skills. Knowing Giannis' competitiveness and thirst for winning—regardless if it's an exhibition or an NBA Finals game—it won't be surprising if the Antetokounmpo brothers come out on top this year.
