Anthony Davis has yet to suit up for the Washington Wizards, but the 10-time All-Star is already building chemistry with his new teammates.
In February 2025, the Los Angeles Lakers sent Luka Doncic to the Dallas Mavericks in one of the most shocking trades in NBA history. Davis headlined the return package.
He appeared in just 29 games for the Mavericks, sidelined repeatedly by injuries.
A year later, Dallas shipped him again, this time to Washington in an eight-player blockbuster at the trade deadline.
A torn left hand ligament has kept him off the floor since. Davis has since been cleared for light contact and is targeting a return before the April 12 regular season finale.
Davis made his return to Crypto.com Arena on Monday night, this time as a visiting player in street clothes. The Lakers played without Doncic, who served a one-game suspension.
Still, the home team handled Washington with ease, cruising to a 120-101 victory. LeBron James paced Los Angeles with a triple-double of 21 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
Will Riley led the Wizards with 20 points, while Justin Champagnie added 18. The defeat dropped Washington to 17-58 on the season.
Despite the lopsided result, second-year guard Bub Carrington quietly etched his name into the record books. Carrington finished with five points and seven assists. The Wizards' official account shared the milestone on X.
"Wizards guard Bub Carrington has recorded his 700th career assist in tonight's game at Los Angeles. He joins Luka Doncic and LaMelo Ball as the only players in NBA history to record 700+ assists and 250+ three-pointers prior to turning 21 years old."

Davis took notice. He reposted the Wizards' announcement on his Instagram Stories with a playful dig at his new teammate.
"I guess you do pass. My bad champ " Davis wrote, tagging Carrington in his post.
Davis jokingly admitted his misperception of his new teammate. Soon enough, the 10-time All-Star will benefit from Carrington's playmaking skills on the court once Davis returns from injury.
The moment offered a glimpse of the chemistry Davis is already building in Washington. Once healthy, Davis will team up with fellow All-Star Trae Young and a promising young core. The Wizards are betting on the pairing to change the tide next season.
