Anthony Davis may be sidelined with an injury, but that hasn’t stopped him from making headlines. The star forward, who recently made his debut with the Dallas Mavericks, took center stage differently on Sunday night with the premiere of his new prank show, Foul Play with Anthony Davis. Airing on TBS immediately after the NBA All-Star Game, the half-hour comedy special showcased Davis’ playful side, much to the delight of fans.

A New Side of Anthony Davis

Known for his dominance on the court, Davis revealed another talent in Foul Play—his knack for elaborate pranks. The docu-style unscripted show, produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, featured a lineup of high-profile guests, including current and former NBA stars, WNBA talent, and MLB personalities. The first episode was filmed before the blockbuster trade that sent Davis to Dallas and Luka Dončić to Los Angeles, which explains why many of his prank victims had ties to L.A.

Joining Davis for the debut episode were Los Angeles Sparks standout Cameron Brink, former Lakers teammates D’Angelo Russell and Jarred Vanderbilt, Clippers guard Terance Mann, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, and Dodgers star Mookie Betts. Impractical Jokers veteran Brian Quinn also played a role, helping Davis orchestrate some of the night’s most elaborate pranks.

Prank Victims and Hilarious Moments

The show kicked off with Davis targeting his former Lakers teammate, Jarred Vanderbilt. With the help of Russell, Davis tricked Vanderbilt into believing he had accidentally killed a goat—a prank that left Vanderbilt stunned and the audience in stitches.

Next up was Clippers guard Terance Mann, who fell victim to a ruse assisted by Cameron Brink. The prank showcased Davis’ creativity in setting up unexpected and absurd situations, keeping his targets completely off-guard.

However, the biggest twist of the night came when the prankster himself became the victim. Originally, Davis and Betts planned to pull one over on Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. But in a clever reversal, Roberts, Betts, and the production team flipped the script. As Davis eagerly watched his plan unfold, Betts feigned a hand injury mid-prank, sending Davis into a panic. With the Dodgers’ World Series hopes on the line at the time of filming, Davis genuinely believed his joke had jeopardized the team’s star player. The moment captured an authentic reaction from Davis, making for one of the funniest highlights of the episode.

Fans Embrace Davis’ Comedic Side

The premiere of Foul Play with Anthony Davis was met with widespread praise. Fans took to social media to share their reactions, many expressing how refreshing it was to see Davis’ humorous and lighthearted side. While he’s known for his intensity and skill on the basketball court, the show gave Mavericks fans—and NBA followers at large—a chance to connect with him on a more personal level.

With his injury keeping him off the court for now, Foul Play provides a fun distraction for Davis and his fans. Whether or not the show continues as a full-fledged series remains to be seen, but if the first episode is any indication, there’s plenty of demand for more pranks and laughs from the Mavericks’ newest star.
