The Dallas Mavericks are gearing up for a new era following their blockbuster deal to acquire Anthony Davis.

Davis was acquired in a trade that sent 25-year-old star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, arguably the biggest trade in NBA history.

While the deal has been finalized, Davis' debut with the Mavericks has yet to be decided, given his nursing of an abdominal injury.

During an interview with Mavericks reporters in Dallas on Tuesday, Davis mentioned that he wouldn't be available for the team's matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers at 7 p.m. ET.

He's set to miss the Tuesday night matchup, but Davis explained he could return as soon as Thursday, barring any setbacks, per Tim Bontemps at ESPN

Davis' last matchup came against the Philadelphia 76ers on Jan. 28.

While he's dealt with an abdominal muscle strain, Davis has been phenomenal throughout the 2024-25 season, averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game.

The 6-foot-10 forward brings a different playing style to Dallas than Doncic. Davis is considered one of the best two-way players in the NBA, rooted in a defense-first mindset.

He'll be joining a talented group with guys like Kyrie Irving, PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford and Derek Lively II.
