Anthony Davis praises Lakers' surging forward

Anthony Davis has been impressed by Cam Reddish in recent games. The Duke product has found himself in the team's starting lineup for three of its last five games. Reddish's inclusion has coincided with an uptick in production from the Lakers. They've won their last two games.

Speaking to the media following the Lakers win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, Davis noted how Reddish has been a difference-maker for his team.

"I think he’s at his highest right now with his confidence on both ends of the floor,” Davis said. “He’s making his threes, he’s getting into the lane and finishing, getting to the line. He’s done a great job defensively over the past three to four games guarding big-time players and making it tough for them. As a team, we just try to instill confidence in him knowing that he can help us and he’s just playing at an elite level right now.”

Reddish has bounced around the NBA since being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 2019. He's spent time with the New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers and now with the Lakers. Reddish's talent has never been in doubt. He was a star during his collegiate career alongside Zion Williamson. He just hasn't found the right fit since entering the NBA.

It would appear the Lakers could be the perfect spot for him. He's making an impact whenever he checks into games and has earned himself some spot starts during the season. Davis wouldn't hand out praise for no reason, either. Reddish must be impressive during practices and with how he conducts himself off the court.

The Lakers are focused on winning a championship this season. If Reddish gets legitimate playing time, it's because he's earned it. He's also earning the respect of his teammates. Maybe this is the year we finally see the former lottery pick make good on his potential. If that's the case, the Lakers could have another young star on their hands.
