Anthony Davis rips 'lackadaisical' Lakers for 'embarrassing' loss

The Los Angeles Lakers fell to 7-6 with a 107-83 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, and eight-time All-Star Anthony Davis was more than a little frustrated with his team.

"We sucked," Davis said when asked about the Lakers getting outscored 40-12 in the third quarter, via ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "No defense. Can't score. That's not just this third quarter, it's every third quarter we've played this season. We come out slow, lackadaisical offensively and defensively. We got to get it together."

Davis, 28, led the Lakers in scoring with 22 points and added eight rebounds. Los Angeles is currently without LeBron James, who is recovering from an abdominal strain and has missed the team's last five games. Lakers coach Frank Vogel told reporters Friday night that James has resumed basketball activities and is "day-to-day."

Regardless, Davis says it's time for the Lakers to look like a contender with or without James.

"We got to decide who we want to be. A championship team? That's not us right now," Davis said. "We're not winning a championship the way we're playing. We got to be better, and we got to care more for our wins at home. Wins in general. That was embarrassing."

The Lakers will host the 4-8 San Antonio Spurs on Sunday
