Anthony Davis turned in arguably his best performance of the season on Monday night in the Dallas Mavericks’ 131-121 win against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Davis, who just recently returned from a 14-game absence due to a lingering calf injury, went off against Denver for 32 points in 32 minutes of action. The 10-time All-Star shot 13-of-23 from the field, to go along with nine rebounds, four assists, a steal and two blocks.
Davis, however, suffered an injury scare against the Nuggets. He was seen favoring his right hand in the first half, and, given the 32-year-old’s injury history, it cast some doubt on his status for Dallas’ next game.
The Mavs are back in action on Wednesday in a home game against the Miami Heat. Dallas is on a bit of a roll of late, winning back-to-back contests, and they will be looking to make it three in a row against the Heat in their next game.
Davis, however, gave Mavs fans a proper fright in the second quarter against the Nuggets. After taking contact on a drive to the basket, the NBA champion forward was seen wincing in pain while holding his shooting hand.

The good news is that Davis told reporters after the game that his fingers were fine and that there was no cause for concern. True enough, the Mavs released their injury report for the Heat game, and Davis was not included on the list.
This development means that, barring any unforeseen setbacks, Davis should be back in the lineup for Dallas on Wednesday against Miami. He’s suited up in two out of the Mavs’ last three games, and the 6-foot-10 big man is expected to keep his streak going against the Heat.
The Mavs improved to 7-15 after Monday’s big win over Denver. They have yet to fully bounce back from their early-season struggles, but they are now trending in the right direction, especially with Davis back in the mix.
In seven games played this season, Davis has produced averages of 21.1 points on 53.7% shooting, 9.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.6 blocks in 30.0 minutes per contest.
