Anthony Edwards ripped into the Los Angeles Lakers to give his Minnesota Timberwolves the second consecutive win and the 3-1 lead over the purple and gold.
The guard played 44 minutes and finished the game with 43 points (12-of-23 from the field), nine rebounds, and six assists. Despite entering the fourth quarter down 94-84, the Timberwolves never panicked and, little by little, cut the distance.
They had to wait until the final seconds to confirm their win, but after Edwards made two free throws after a LeBron James foul, Minnesota took the commanding lead as the series headed back to Los Angeles.
After the win, an old video of Edwards showing off his confidence in front of former President of the United States Barack Obama made the rounds on social media. Netflix's official X account shared a clip of their docuseries "Court of Gold," which debuted in February.
The series followed various NBA players playing in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Obama caught up with Team USA ahead of the tournament and had an interesting exchange with Edwards.
Former POTUS asked Joel Embiid about what he thought about Anthony Edwards, which sparked a confident response from the former No. 1 overall pick.
"Man, y'all better step down," Edwards said while looking at Obama. "I'm the truth."
A shocked Obama asked for James and other veterans' opinions.
"LeBron, are y'all talking to this young man cause he just keeps on [...] right now he just said he's the truth and all that," Obama asked.
Both James and Kevin Durant agreed with Edward's statement. Once the video resurfaced, many people agreed with Edwards.
"yall think its jokes ? he is," one fan said.
"Aging well," another fan said.
"he be telling yall n yall don’t be listening," a third fan said.
"He is indeed the truth," one fan wrote.
"Gospel truth," another added.
"Aged well lol he ball out next game n win my respect back," one of the fans said.
Edwards averaged 12.8 points per game during the 2024 Olympic Games, helping Team USA win the fifth consecutive, 17th overall gold medal.
The 2024-25 NBA regular season wasn't the best for the Timberwolves, who dropped from the No. 3 seed last season to the No. 6 spot this campaign. Once the postseason started, they found extra motivation, and Edwards is putting on remarkable numbers (29.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game) against the Lakers.
