Sometimes, bizarre reasons can spoil some of the greatest stats of a career. And that is exactly what happened with Anthony Edwards against the Dallas Mavericks. Returning from his injury, Edwards was expected to start.

But as the Timberwolves walked out into the middle, the 24-year-old was nowhere to be seen. And now, he has shared the most bizarre reason for not starting.

“I was taking a s---. Mike held it down for me,” said Edwards.

Since his rookie season, this was the first time the Timberwolves star did not start. And with it, his record of 421 consecutive starts ended. All because of ‘nature’s call.’ Initially, when the 4-time NBA All-Star did not walk out, fans thought it might have something to do with Edwards ignoring the head coach’s instructions.

However, his late entry into the game did not hamper his performance. Returning after a six-game absence due to a knee issue, the 2026 NBA All-Star Game MVP dropped 17 points, two rebounds, and four assists. He also shot 7-of-13 from the field and nailed a couple of threes.

Meanwhile, despite rumors circulating about Edwards having a poor relationship with Chris Finch, the reality is very much the opposite.

Do Anthony Edwards and Chris Finch Really Don’t Get Along Well?

The 24-year-old has been involved in a lot of controversies. Thus, the last thing he wanted was a strained locker room relationship with his head coach. Back in February, when Minnesota played the Los Angeles Clippers, ‘AntMan’ had a heated moment with his coach. This sparked rumors about their not-so-good relationship. But thankfully, that was not the case.

According to NBA analyst Christopher Hine, the duo does share a tug-of-war kind of relationship. “They have days where they’re getting ready to fight, and then after the game they hug each other,” Hine wrote on X.

Well, with Edwards leading quite a happening life, fans will be eager to find out about his next interesting antic.
