Anthony Edwards Credits Stephen Curry For His Evolution Into An Elite Shooter

Anthony Edwards has continued to shine as one of the league's best shooters. This is a massive shift for Edwards because he was once seen as exclusively a slasher. Due to his hard work, he developed into the highest level of three-point shooters.

After Game 4 of the series against the Golden State Warriors, most fans were impressed with his performance, especially with his three-point shooting. He made six three-pointers in the game, a great achievement against a team known for their perimeter shooting.

Edwards has tremendously improved as a three-point shooter over the past few years. Most people know him as an elite athlete who can throw down highlight dunks every game, but he has gotten past that with his growth as a shooter.

Edwards' development has been impressive because it shows he is committed to his superstar status. He was already a great player as a slasher, but his evolution as a three-level scorer has made him one of the best players in the league. For that, he credits Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, the NBA's greatest-ever shooter.

Curry Became A Big Contributor To Edwards' Growth As A Shooter

Since his NBA career started in 2009, Curry has been the benchmark for elite three-point shooting. He can do it all from beyond the arc, as he can create scoring opportunities for himself, but he can also play as an off-the-ball shooter.

Many players have come and gone at the elite level of three-point shooting, but Curry has endured. Now, the latest contender is Edwards, who has been tremendous with his shooting. He had a strong 2024-25 campaign because he beat Curry and Malik Beasley for the most threes made in the regular season.

That was not an accident because Edwards learned from the best. Ant and Steph played on Team USA during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they became shooting partners.

"It's the same every night. Let it fly. I work on it, man, I told Steph. I was working with him all summer, man. Big shoutout, big credit to him," Edwards said about Curry's impact on his shooting. "He influenced me to be able to shoot the ball really well. I went back in the summer and started to working on it and I got better at it. Just let it fly."

Edwards Is Beating Curry's Team With His Shooting

Unfortunately for Curry, Edwards is the best shooter in the second round between the Timberwolves and Warriors. It is not even Curry's fault because he can't compete due to his hamstring injury. He is inching closer to a return, but the Timberwolves are already up 3-1 after the dominant Game 4 win.

With this stretch, Edwards has cemented himself as arguably a top-two shooter in the league. That is tremendous for a player who was not known as a shooter. This season has proven that Ant is more than just an athletic player as he is a true superstar who can score from anywhere on the court.
