Anthony Edwards Gives Honest Admission About His Lack Of Shot Attempts In Game 4

Anthony Edwards had a rough night in Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Minnesota Timberwolves had strong performances, but Edwards had a quiet night of only 16 points.

For Edwards, it was not a huge struggle because he classifies a bad night as when he misses plenty of shots. That did not happen much in this game because he only got to take 13 shots, an atypical number from a superstar player.

Playing against the Thunder is a nightmare for most players because of their swarming defense. Edwards was the number one target of that defense in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.

As they deployed a box-and-one defensive scheme, Edwards was isolated from his team. That meant he barely saw the ball, let alone take shot attempts. It was a masterful defensive performance, as they mostly shut out the opponent's superstar.

Edwards Believes The Thunder Had The Better Game Plan

From the start of Game 4, the Thunder were focused on preventing Edwards and Randle from getting the ball. When they did get the ball, the Thunder players kept swarming so they could make the pass.

That opened the door for the other Timberwolves players to have good games, as Alexander-Walker, DiVincenzo, and McDaniels took over as the top scorers.

Edwards might not have scored that many points, but he made the right play almost every time. Ant dished out six assists, but his biggest issue was that he could not get shots up due to the suffocating defense.

"I don't look at it like I struggled, or he struggled. It's just they had a good game plan, making us go off the ball. Especially for me, it was super in gaps, I made the right play all night," Edwards said after Game 4. "I didn't get enough shots to say that I struggled... I didn't struggle at all, I made the right play."

Edwards Is Confident Ahead of Game 5 In OKC

Despite the tough loss at Target Center, Edwards is excited to prove himself again in Game 5. This was a challenging defeat, but he is to keep his chin up. The series is not over, so they will do their best to win three consecutive games to win the series.

OKC's home arena, Paycom Center, is a hostile environment like the Paycom Center. However, that is what the Timberwolves must deal with, as they are looking to win the series from 1-3 down.

"I don't want to take bad shots and get your team out of rhythm. Just playing the game the right way, man. That's what we did tonight," Edwards continued. "We just need to come out from the start with the same aggression as we did in Game 3."

Edwards is confident, but he will need to back that up. The 16-point night should be an anomaly, considering he is the team's star player.
