Anthony Edwards Injury Update Emerges Before Timberwolves Game

The Minnesota Timberwolves have gotten off to a 3-3 start to the NBA season, but have already been slightly plagued by injury. Three-time NBA All-Star Anthony Edwards tweaked his hamstring three minutes into the team's 114-110 win against the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 26.

He has been sidelined for the past three games, and Minnesota has missed him greatly, posting a 1-2 record in his absence. Edwards, 24, seemed poised for a strong start to the year, averaging 25.7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists per game, while shooting 51.9% from the field and 47.4% from deep.

It's not yet clear when Edwards will be able to make a return to action, but a Monday update released by the NBA should give fans in Minnesota and around the NBA optimism that the young star could be coming back soon.

As confirmed by Chris Hine of the Star Tribune, the Timberwolves announced on Monday that Edwards has been cleared for "contact basketball activities," but has not yet made a return to games. Hine shared a video of Edwards trotting up and down the court, while his teammates shot.

Minnesota is on a road trip as the Timberwolves will be taking on the Brooklyn Nets (0-6) on Monday before heading to Madison Square Garden to face the New York Knicks (3-3) on Wednesday.

After the two-game trip to the East Coast, Minnesota will return home Friday for some NBA Cup Group Play action against the Utah Jazz. While the Timberwolves would love to have their star back, there's really no need to rush him back with the season being so young.
