Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is working hard to add more skills to his arsenal during the offseason.
Under the leadership of Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves have made back-to-back Western Conference Finals runs.
However, the Timberwolves failed to cross the final hurdle before reaching the NBA Finals in 2024 and 2025.
After losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2025 playoffs, Edwards vowed to improve his game, and the 24-year-old has reportedly shown some serious progress in the offseason.
Considering that Edwards will enter the sixth season of his NBA career next season, it’s obvious that the 3x NBA All-Star has gotten the hang of the basics.
However, to truly take his game to the next level, Edwards’ trainer Chris Hines is apparently teaching the Timberwolves star about the history of the game, particularly one of Michael Jordan’s skills.
“Chris told me that he worked on teaching him about the history of the game. ‘We know you can score, we know how great of an athlete you are,'” Dave McMenamin revealed on NBA on ESPN.
McMenamin added: “‘But watch these clips of Kobe [Bryant]. Watch these clips of Michael Jordan. See how they read the defense when they collapse on him late in the shot clock.’ We saw it pay off in the playoffs.
He then revealed the exact moment when Edwards showcased this skill against the Los Angeles Lakers.
“First round against the Lakers, Game 5, the clincher on the road, it’s the hardest game to win. Double-team comes late, finds Mike Conley in the corner.
“Conley cashes it, and they move on to the next round,” McMenamin stated.
"He's trying to add the play making piece to the offensive repertoire. If he gets that I mean, the sky is the limit."@mcten on Anthony Edwards' growth entering his sixth season in the NBA ✍️ pic.twitter.com/LnbZpN6jG1

Apart from leading the Timberwolves to the WCF, Edwards also averaged 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game for the team during the 2024-25 season.
He was given the nod as an All-Star and All-NBA second team for his phenomenal performance while finishing seventh in the race to win the 2025 NBA MVP.
As McMenamin previously mentioned, Edwards is already a sensational scorer, but if he adds playmaking to his arsenal, the Timberwolves superstar will be unstoppable.
“It’s been a constant process for him though. He’s trying to add the playmaking piece to the offensive repertoire. If he gets that, I mean, the sky is the limit,” McMenamin concluded.
The 2025-26 NBA season will be interesting to watch as analyst Kendrick Perkins has predicted that if the T-Wolves fail to make it to the NBA Finals, Edwards will demand a trade away from the team.
