Anthony Edwards becomes the second notable name to withdraw from the 2025 NBA All-Star game on the night. Edwards told reporters that he was coming in tonight with an aggravated groin injury, and didn't have enough time to properly warm up in order to play safely on the night. This injury forced him to miss the first All-Star tournament game for Kenny Smith's team.

Edwards joins LeBron James on the sidelines as players who are missing the All-Star game at the last minute. LeBron withdrew hours ago from the festivities tonight due to an ankle injury. And now, Edwards, another massive NBA name, will not be taking the court at the Chase Center tonight.

This is sure to be a disappointment for fans, as Edwards is one of the most exciting young players in the league, who perennially puts on a show. The game will sorely miss his wild athleticism and ferocious attitude, as that is something the NBA All-Star game has rarely seen over the last few years.

It was reported on Friday that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver would talk to the players in the All-Star game about the importance of playing hard and competing at a high level to ensure that the game is an entertaining experience for fans. The last few years have been quite disappointing for fans, as players rarely put in any effort to put on a show.

The hope from the NBA's side this year is that the players show a level of hunger and aggression that leads to more competitive basketball being played. The All-Star game is a novelty that sees the best players in the league team up and play against each other. But if the best players aren't delivering at a high level, then the entire concept is moot.
