Anthony Edwards had a sharp response after Barack Obama suggested he won their recent one-on-one matchup.

Edwards was not prepared to let the former president claim uncontested bragging rights. The moment quickly became part of the weekend’s broader storyline.

Edwards answers Obama’s one-on-one boast

Barack Obama joked that he had gotten the better of Anthony Edwards during a recent run. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard offered his own version of events when asked about it.

President Obama said, “I wore him out yesterday!”

Edwards replied, “Nah, he ain’t whip me like that. He did all right for an old man, though. He did all right.”

The exchange reflected a friendly dynamic between the two, with Edwards pushing back while keeping the tone playful.

Timberwolves star credits Obama for added motivation

Despite the teasing, Edwards has spoken highly of Obama and acknowledged that his presence carried significance during All-Star weekend. The guard said they spent time together before the game.

“Yeah, for sure. You always got to put on the show for (him)… He’s my favorite person in the world. We was kicking it yesterday. Me and him, I had a great time yesterday. So, I told him I was going to put on the show for him.”

Edwards backed up that promise with a standout performance that earned him All-Star MVP honors. The combination of humor and production on the court added another notable moment to his rising profile.

While Obama may stand by his claim, Edwards ensured his performance on the main stage did the talking.
