During Friday night's home matchup with the Brooklyn Nets, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards received his 18th technical foul of the 2024-25 NBA season, which would have ultimately suspended him for the team's regular-season finale against the Utah Jazz on Sunday.
The tech occurred in the second quarter after Edwards was called for a foul and given the tech for "use of profanity directed toward an official," according to Crew Chief Bill Kennedy.
However, Minnesota caught a break after the league reviewed the technical foul and made their decision.
The NBA announced on Saturday that "Anthony Edwards' (MIN) technical foul at 6:29 of the 2nd quarter on 4/11/25 (vs. BKN) has been rescinded upon league office review."
Following Friday night's victory, Edwards was asked about what happened during the sequence.
“I tried to play good defense, they called a foul and I said “Where was the f’ing foul” and he (Ray Acosta) gave me a tech,” Edwards said postgame. “I hope they look at it and rescind it so I can play in a couple days.”
Edwards remained hopeful that the league would take away the technical so he wouldn't have to miss his team's final game.
"I'm praying they rescind it because I don't feel like it should've been a tech but me and Ray got a good relationship, we talked it out after the fact but I still don't feel like I deserved a tech for that little gesture," he added.
Anthony Edwards picked up his 18th technical foul of the season, and will suspended for Sunday's game because of that.

This means that the Timberwolves will in fact have their best player in a must-win scenario on Sunday. A win would mean that Minnesota avoids the Play-in and enters the Playoffs at No. 6 in the Conference.
A loss to Utah would almost certainly mean the team drops down to No. 8.
Edwards' technical foul count will reset as he enters the playoffs and the new number of techs he needs to avoid is seven during postseason play.
