Dort, now a defensive anchor for the Oklahoma City Thunder, earned the prestigious recognition for the first time in his career, cementing his reputation as a premier defender in the league. The Sun Devil program applauded the accomplishment on social media.
Dort played one season at ASU in 2018-19 before going undrafted into the NBA. Known for his physical defense and fearless mindset, he ended up signing with the Thunder as a free agent.
Now in his fifth NBA season, Dort has become a key part of Oklahoma City’s resurgence in the Western Conference, often tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best scorer. His first-team nod places him among elite company and highlights his growth from a gritty college defender into one of the NBA’s most respected stoppers.
