'At the end of the day, it’s just basketball…' LeBron James opens up on Lakers going 0-3 and talks potential comeback
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers are one loss away from being eliminated from the playoffs. There is a high chance the result of last year’s series against the Denver Nuggets might repeat.

After the third heartbreaking loss, LeBron James discussed the mental health of his teammates and his thoughts while heading for game 4.

Los Angeles Lakers have been completely dominated by the Denver Nuggets, as they have lost eleven straight games since last year’s Western Conference Finals.

In the post-game press conference after game 3, LeBron James was asked whether the spirit of his teammates played a part in the consecutive losses. James had his teammates’ backs as he referred to them as postseason-experienced professionals.

It's just basketball. At the end of the day, it's just basketball. LeBron James said.

The star also spoke about the team’s mindset while heading for the next game. The 39-year-old revealed that the team is focusing on taking it ‘one game at a time’. The Lakers are eyeing the game-4 win to further keep their season alive.

As long as you still have life, then you always have belief… You play until the wheels fall off. That's what it's always about for me as a mindset. LeBron James added

As the series victory seems like moving far away from the men in purple and gold, the team’s veteran has not lost faith. The Lakers have lost all three games by performing significantly poorly in the second half. The team needs to stay consistent throughout the 48 minutes to win over the Nuggets. The next game will be a do-or-die situation for the team.

Rachel Nichols believes that the Lakers want to call off the series

The Lakers’ inability to win against the Nuggets has undoubtedly taken a toll on the spirit of the players. Despite James and Anthony Davis showing positivity towards game 4, it is hard to ignore the duo’s disappointed demeanor after the loss. The pair has been giving everything on the court for all three games.

Sports commentator Rachel Nichols believes that the team is ready to give up the series after the third loss. As many members of the NBA community were showing disappointment towards the Lakers, Nichols took to her social media to point out the team’s defeated body language.

The body language right now is screaming that if they could vote to just call the series, they would. Rachel Nichols wrote on X

Even if the team manages to win the next game, winning the series would certainly be a stretch for the Lakers. At this point, winning a single game would mean a lot for James and the team. NBA fans will certainly be glued to their seats for the Lakers’ home-court performance in the elimination game.
